Overview of Robert. F. Borkenstein Award

The senior vice president of forensic science initiatives and chief of forensic toxicology at NMS Labs, toxicologist Barry Logan oversees the research and development activities for the laboratory. In recognition of his professional accomplishments, toxicologist Barry Logan has earned professional accolades such as the 2010 Rolla N. Harger Award from the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the 2011 Robert F. Borkenstein Award from the National Safety Council.

Named after the inventor of the Breathalyzer, the Robert. F. Borkenstein Award honors individuals whose efforts have positively impacted the field of alcohol/drug and traffic safety. Award recipients are selected by professionals from the National Safety Council Alcohol, Drugs, and Impairment Division, which addresses the problem of impaired driving through education and policy advocacy.
Honorees must hold a minimum of 25 years of active service in the field as well as 10 years of involvement with the National Safety Council. They must have a career contribution in at least one of the selected areas in research and education, legal, and action programs.
