NMS Labs’ Collection and Submission Protocol for Specimens

broken image

With an extensive background as forensic toxicologist, Dr. Barry Logan informs NMS Labs in Pennsylvania as chief scientist and managing executive. One focus of Dr. Barry Logan and his toxicologist colleagues is forensic testing, which involves a specific specimen submission protocol that clinical researchers and sponsors must follow.

Each specimen container needs to be labeled and affixed with a tamper-resistant seal before being packaged in a secure way that avoids breakage risk. With chain of custody and history documentation included, the specimens need to be labeled appropriately and sent through a certified return-receipt carrier.

NMS Labs also produces forensic collection kits specific to the collection and transportation of urine, blood, or hair samples. These ensure the integrity of specimens through provided guidelines on the proper collection of the target substance in the required volume. Included within each kit is an appropriate container, as well as specimen integrity seals and chain of custody and case history forms. As required, a cold pack may also be included to keep the specimen within a specific temperature range as it is being transported to the lab.
