Hands-on Forensic Science Training Through Master Program

broken image

A toxicologist with decades of expertise in conducting research, Barry Logan serves as senior vice president of forensic science initiatives at NMS Labs, overseeing all research and development activities for the laboratory. Toxicologist Barry Logan also serves as executive director at the Center for Forensic Science Research and Education, where he oversees a nonprofit organization that leads several forensic science-related research and educational programs.

Building on a joint collaboration involving Arcadia University, the Center for Forensic Science Research and Education (CFSRE), and NMS Labs, the Master of Science in Forensic Science (MSFS) program at Arcadia University offers M.Sc. degree opportunities to candidates who are in search of an accredited forensic science training program. Candidates who enroll in the program include students pursuing careers in various areas of forensic science - forensic chemistry, forensic biology, and forensic toxicology.

As a program partner, CFSRE provides a 12-credit guaranteed internship opportunity for master's students. CFSRE has staff who are experts in forensic science and are dedicated to guiding students in adjunct capacities. During an internship at the CFSRE facility (which is 10 minutes away from the university), students acquire practical experience and a feel of what a career in forensic science looks like. The CFSRE facility is sufficiently equipped with laboratories and case materials to familiarize students with original forensic research. This also lays a strong scientific foundation for students who are looking to pursue doctoral studies.
