Toxicologist Dr. Barry Logan is a leader in the field of forensic toxicology. Since 2010, Dr. Barry Logan has served as the toxicologist executive director of the Center for Forensic Science Research & Education at the Fredric Rieders Family Foundation.

Established in 1999, the Fredric Rieders Family Foundation offers various programs to educate and train aspiring forensic science professionals. For example, the Forensic Sciences Mentoring Institute (FMI) provides academic and leadership challenges to high school students at its annual summer program.
Working in teams over the seven-week course, students investigate and solve a crime, practicing techniques such as DNA testing and blood spatter analysis. In addition to hands-on investigations that familiarize students with the forensic laboratory setting, program participants learn about forensic science career opportunities and receive general mentorship from experts in the field.
